PROJECT PLANNING
Once all the requirements have been analyzed, presented and accepted by the client, a concrete effort estimate is arrived at. Resources are then identified/acquired and optimally allocated; and the final PROJECT SCHEDULE (PS) prepared. During this stage, the other components of the PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN (see list below) are fleshed out.
Components of the PMP
The PMP also contains the final Statement of Acceptance Criteria - list of the criteria/parameters against which deliverables will be evaluated for acceptance - by the client.
The PMP being a dynamic document changes regularly - e.g. activities get more detailed with time or concurrency of the activity/phase.
The PM regularly updates the PMP and interacts with the client for the purpose of reporting as well as acquiring required inputs (on various aspects).
